Davide Camplani was born 1968 in Marone, Italy. He studied contemporary dance with Giulia Gussago and Claudio Gasparotto and at the Folkwang-Hochschule, Essen, where he graduated in 1999. He has danced with Giulia Gussago in Italy, the Mark Sieczkarek Company, Malou Airaudo, and at the Bonn Opera. He partook in the film production Arie (2003) directed by Gianluca Vallero as a choreographer and dancer, and as a dancer in the film production história (2007) and in Between (2012) both by Karsten Liske. He has been working with Sasha Waltz & Guests since 1999. He also danced in The rest of you by Juan Kruz Diaz de Garaio Esnaola and Luc Dunberry and Don't we by Luc Dunberry. Furthermore, he works as a repetiteur for Sasha Waltz & Guests, amongst others in the choreographic concert gefaltet by Sasha Waltz & Mark Andre that premiered at the Mozartwoche Salzburg 2012. Since 2008 Davide has been directing the children's Dance Company of Sasha Waltz & Guests together with Mata Sakka and Gabriel Galindez Cruz. In 2009 he started working on his own project From....To in the framework of the support programme Choreographen der Zukunft by Sasha Waltz & Guests, sponsored by BASF SE. Biography
Anne Martin
was born in Rolle, Switzerland, in 1953 and studied music from 1969 to 1973 at the Conservatoire de Lausanne (piano with Denise Bidal) as well as ballet with Philippe Dahlmann. In 1973 she began a three-year dance degree at Rosella Hightower’s Centre international de danse in Cannes. Her first work as a dancer was from 1976 to 1978 with Gigi-Gheorghe Caciuléanu at the Grand Théâtre in Nancy. When she first saw the work of Pina Bausch she immediately felt at home. In 1978 Pina Bausch invited her to join the company in Wuppertal.
A keen eye
Like most new members, she first learned the repertoire; Kontakthof was to be the first production where Anne Martin was part of the creative process. She dived headlong into the work. Much of the time she didn’t give too much thought to what she was doing, and to her surprise it ended up in the pieces. She liked the way you could be yourself in Tanztheater, but ‘within a larger context,’ as she puts it. The dancers of interpretation Tanztheater Wuppertal, like stress many strike German theatres were allotted to along with perform unadorned other productions as go well, notably Opus and Musicals.
