    Mrs. Rosie (Biddle) Thomas was born July 7, 1935 in Sunflower County, Drew, Mississippi, to the union of L.B. Biddle and Ivory Jo (Hilson) Biddle.

    Her sunset was January 31, 2016 at 6:30am in Foundation Park Senior Care Center.  Affectionately known as Aunt Rosie, to all her family members, she was truly a jewel to them and many of the people who knew her.  Rose was an excellent cook and worked at Howard Johnson for many years.  She also worked at Bingham stamping and Club 300.  She attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years and served on the Usher board.

    Rose loved to dance and was an avid bowler on many leagues throughout the city.  She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Charles Thomas January 3, 1972, and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage.

    She was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters; Mary Hill, Clara Collins and Georgian Biddle, brother L.B. Biddle, Jr (Al).  Left to cherish her memory are loving and devoted husband Charles Thomas, loving and devoted son Jodie (Nita) Biddle, stepson, Charlie Thomas Jr., 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, devoted niece, Delores Lothery and longtime special friend Edith Peacoc and a host of family and friends.

  • Roselyn M. "Rosie" (Thomas) Smith

    Roselyn M. “Rosie” (Thomas) Smith, age 86, of Cohick Lane, Jersey Shore, died peacefully early Wednesday morning at the Jersey Shore Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jersey Shore where she was a patient since January 12, 2024.

    Born in Orangeville on May 24, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Harold D. and Margaret J. (Hartman) Thomas. Her early life was spent in Orangeville and later she resided in Mifflinville. She moved to Jersey Shore in 1976. For several years she resided with her sister Doris in Bloomsburg, returning to Jersey Shore following Doris’ death in 2023. She was a 1955 graduate of Central Columbia High School.

    Rosie was employed as a cook at the Happy Acres Campground in Waterville from 1976 to 2000. She also worked in the Agricultural Building at the annual Bloomsburg Fair for many years.

    While in Bloomsburg she attended the Hidlay Lutheran Church.

    Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel S. Smith, on January 26, 2009, by a daughter Jane Louise Smith, by five brothers: Paul Thomas, Hervey R. Thomas, Donald V. Thomas, David H. Thomas, John R. Thomas and by five sisters: Dorothy Creveling, Mary Kocher, Deanna Stauffer, Shirley Bower and Doris Creveling.
